The creative career lab
Announcing the Creative Career Lab, Get Lit's year-long professional development program that runs from July 2024-May 2025. The Creative Career Lab prepares young professionals ages 18-28 to thrive in a full-time position in the creative and nonprofit sectors. Graduates will receive support finding–and the skills to excel at–a dream job!
Get Lit's Creative Career Lab is funded by the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) through the California Community Reinvestment Grants Program (CalCRG). This program aims to create a bridge to success for young adults through critical professional training, connections, and paid job placement.

CASTING CALL FOR ARTISTS AGES 18-30!
Get Lit & The LA Phil are producing a one-night show, If I Awaken In Los Angeles, on August 1st… and we are looking for 5 SUPERSTARS to bring it to life! Are you a poet, actor, rapper, singer, comic, DJ, or dancer? If so, this opportunity is for YOU!
If I Awaken in Los Angeles is a multi-media production blending Spoken Word, music, dance, and video to tell the story of a rebellious teenager born and raised in Los Angeles. Our protagonist travels through several neighborhoods of Los Angeles (South Central, The Canyons, Boyle Heights, Chinatown, etc.), ultimately finding his way back home, transformed by the spirit of the communities he encounters.In collaboration with Grammy-Award winning composer Derrick Hodge, this multi-media production will blend orchestral music, poetry, dance, and theatrics.
Submit a 2-5 minute audition video to sofia@getlit.org by Feb 10th. If selected for a callback, you’ll be invited to an in-person audition at our office in Koreatown.
1. Memorized recitation of a classic poem. (Select any poem from https://getlitanthology.org/)
2. Memorized recitation of a poem or performance piece that you have written (especially one that highlights your community)
And/Or
3. Demonstration of other dynamic skills: singing, dancing, rapping, beatboxing, comedy, playing a musical instrument.
*Must be comfortable being filmed for all promotional materials leading up to the show.
