Carlos Segovia, 1997-2016

Carlos Segovia painting

The Carlos Segovia Scholarship Fund launches today, November 1, 2016, to honor the memory of Carlos Segovia, an exemplary son, brother, student, poet, friend, and marine. Carlos was shot in South Los Angeles on Sept. 16 due to an act of random violence. Carlos worked with Cloud9, a local Los Angeles nonprofit to feed and protect the hungry people and animals of our city. He was a champion of the underdog and a beloved person to all who knew him. Each year on his birthday, March 7, this award will be gifted to a student in pursuit of post-secondary work, and in need of financial support, who exhibits traits of Carlos’s kindness.

“It’s never too late to be great and remembered. Because those who are great and remembered never actually die.”
