Pilot 1: Fundamentals of Filmmaking

  • Pilot 1: Fundamentals of Filmmaking

    September 22 – December 15

Intro to Poetic New Wave Filmmaking
10-week program for filmmakers ages 13-19

Students will learn to produce an original short film, collaborate with other young filmmakers from across Los Angeles, and meet professionals from the creative industry.

Students will learn the aesthetics of cinematography and editing while developing their skills as visual storytellers. As part of the process, students will learn how to write treatments and pitch their ideas, collaborate with other young filmmakers, and see a project through to completion. We’ll celebrate their work with a short film release party on the last day of class — family and friends will be invited and food will be served! This is an incredible opportunity and we can’t wait to see what LA’s talented young filmmakers have to say!

Pilot 1 will meet every Sunday from 2pm-5pm, starting September 22nd through December 15th. We ask that students commit to all ten Sundays. Please email whitney@getlit.org with any questions.

    An Annual Residency

In Partnership with The Writers Guild Foundation and Final Draft

Through group story sessions with creative advisors, fellows engage in an artistically rigorous process that offers indispensable lessons in craft to facilitate the deep exploration needed to fully realize their material. Upon successful completion of your first annual residency work, Literary Riot Media representatives and industry partners will actively strive for tangible opportunities for you like setting up meetings, giving notes and feedback, and assisting with deal negotiation, as well as helping steer your screenwriting career’s direction.
