Giselle Flores is a 20-year-old Mexican American from South Central Los Angeles, who thrives for her resilience, creativity, and determination. Growing up, Giselle and her family faced significant hardships, including periods of homelessness during her high school years. These challenges forced her to drop out of high school, but once she got on her feet fueled her determination to build a better future.
Despite these obstacles, Giselle’s perseverance shone through. She returned to her studies and earned her High School Diploma from West Valley Occupational Center in 2023, abiding by her commitment to personal and academic growth.
Giselle was a former high school basketball captain, and her leadership skills extended beyond the court. She has channeled her energy and passion into the arts as a mixed media artist, with a particular love for graphic design.
Her dedication to her community is evident through her volunteer work with notable events such as Get Lit's Annual Gala in 2022, Poetic Convergence in 2023, and Get Lit's Annual Classic Slam in 2024. Giselle worked for LA Parks and Recreation in 2022 as a park aid and coached basketball. Vital positions such as her volunteer work and her time at the park have made her deeply passionate about contributing her time back to her community.
In her free time, Giselle enjoys watching niche anime– her favorite genre being isekai anime such as her all-time favorite, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.”
