Tia Thompson

Teaching Artist

Tia's artworks are reflections of essence and being.  Her work is guided by spirit and rooted in Black ancestry. There is a slowness and intentional waywardness in her art making that creates psychic freedom and experimentation for beautiful living.  Her mediums of expression are writing, film photography, and astrology. Her works have been featured and exhibited by: Ashara Ekundayo; Advocate & Gochis Galleries, Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery, Black Portraiture[s] III - Reinventions: Strains of Histories and Cultures, AcreativeDC, PBS.org, Feminist Artists, Academics, and Activists: Crossing Black Geographies, Matador Network, Historical Society of Washington, D.C., Pleiades Gallery, and East City Art.
